ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS: AN OPPORTUNITY WASTED

Carl F. Worden

Geez- Louise, are there any resourceful, bright minds left in the entire United States anymore?

Yesterday, 5/2/07, we had the very best opportunity we’ve ever had to sweep up a substantial number of illegal aliens off the streets of America, and we totally blew it.

Do any of you recall the sting operations conducted by a number of law enforcement groups throughout the U.S. where wanted fugitives were sent telegrams or letters advising that they had won this or that, and to show up at this big party to claim their prize? Their prize turned out to be a pair of handcuffs.

Yesterday, 5/2/07, we lost out on a marvelous opportunity to put these arrogant law-breaking illegal immigrants in their place, and we totally spaced the chance.

Here we had demonstrations nationwide, participated in by mostly illegal immigrants, and with foreknowledge of where these people would be concentrated in each major city! All we had to do was estimate the size of the crowd, less an estimate of the legal citizens who sympathize with the illegals, and line up the busses just out of sight with plenty of plastic handcuffs and enough gas to reach the Mexican border.

Would that have been perfect or what? Do that one time, and we put these “uppity” illegals in their place. Do that one time, and you won’t hear much from these jackasses who claim the southwest to be “theirs”. Do that one time, and you won’t have the City of Los Angeles facing an expensive legal nightmare for using excessive force against the demonstrators, because the demonstrators won’t be showing up to demonstrate anymore. They’ll be where they belong: Back in Mexico.

“We just want to have work and provide for our families” -- did you hear that crap? I could just hear liberal softie hearts’ breaking. But this writer, Carl Worden, has a special insight into illegal immigration. I know Tax Law and I know what is really happening in the United States regarding illegal immigration, because my Mother-In-Law happens to be a Nurse Practitioner at the Valley Medical Center In San Jose, California. Her job is to process eight, newly arrived women from mostly Mexico and South America, but also from other nations, every single workday.

These women deliberately arrive here 7.5 to 8 months pregnant. They know they will be welcomed and shown the door to all the benefits available, including food stamps, housing assistance, WIC and you name it. The Valley Medical Center has a welfare advisor in the lobby of the county hospital to facilitate these people – and they arrive knowing all these benefits await them.

Here’s the math for just the pregnant illegal women my Mother-In-Law processes daily:

Eight women per day X 250 workdays per year X $7,000.00 per birth with no complications = $14 million bucks per year for just the women my Mother-In-Law processes in just one county hospital in the U.S every year. Do you feel something sliding up the crack of your wallet?

These women arrive here with the same sob-story, knowing that Americans will pay for the birth of their baby in its entirely – even if the birth has complications. And to make it even more attractive, the moment their baby is born, it is legally an American citizen, and who wants to separate mother from child? Get the scam? No, you really don’t – not quite yet.

Have you ever heard of the Earned Income Tax Credit? It is a form of welfare that is intended to be granted to American citizens who don’t earn income above the established poverty level. Depending on how many children you have, it can amount to several thousands of dollars per year, tax free. Our illegal immigrant population knows how to play this game better than most American citizens.

Here’s how they play the game: If they are illegal, they get secondary identities that make them appear to be citizens eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit. If they have been granted immunity and citizenship in the past, they often obtain secondary identities that make them appear illegal. So no matter what the scenario, these people play the system. They get the benefits provided them by our socialist system if they are deemed illegal, and they get the benefits under their other identity as legal citizens if they want the Earned Income Tax Credit.

God, is this a great country, or what?? Sure, if you are an illegal alien.

To many American citizens, the connotation of “Illegal Alien” means downtrodden, poor and uneducated people who just want the chance for the American Dream. They have no idea these people are anything BUT stupid, and that they arrive here knowing how to play the system to its fullest in terms of personal benefit before they even get here. They do talk, you know.

Nobody appreciates a con-job - scam more than I do. I love diagnosing a con-job, especially if I can help somebody thwart one before it’s too late. But this illegal alien scam just about whips them all in every category, because just about nobody is directly hurt, and for all the world to see, the scam is perfectly legal.

No one, single person gets made the pigeon. The pigeons are all the taxpayers, and the con is hard to detect, let alone prosecute. The con-men and women come right up to the window with nothing to fear. As an illegal, they get their babies born on our dime, and as a citizen, they get to take advantage of the Earned Income Tax Credit. They earn their income under the table as an illegal, and they allow a small portion of their income to be reported as legal citizens to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit – and all the while they tell the media they are contributing taxpayers!

No! In point of fact, they are parasites.

What, you don’t know about the Earned Income Tax Credit? They do! One year when I was disabled, my tax deductions were so high that I qualified for the Earned Income Tax Credit. I had paid NO taxes for the year, but I received a “refund” from the Treasury.

My first thought was that I’d made a mistake on my income tax return, and I wanted to fix it before the IRS came after me. I called my tax guy, who investigated and came back with this comment: “Carl, you won’t believe this, but you are poor”. “What do you mean”? said I, and my tax guy went on to explain that even if I paid no income taxes whatsoever, the “gubmint” had devised a way to pay me from the largesse of the Treasury to offset my “poverty” through the Earned Income Tax Credit.

The EITC is welfare, people! It is redistribution of wealth! It is a socialist program intended to help the needy legal American citizens, but the illegals posing as legal citizens have been gobbling it up right and left. When you hear some softie liberal tell you these illegal people work and pay taxes, only the most stupid of them do. In fact, it is fair to say most American citizens are less informed about how to work the American system than the average illegal immigrant.

Feeling even more stupid and gullible yet?

Yesterday was opportunity lost in multiple ways. We had the opportunity to affect attitudes and opportunity. We had the chance to save the taxpayers millions and probably billions of dollars. Except for the “victims” of excessive force in Los Angeles, everybody illegal went home unscathed, able and willing to continue to inflict their con-job on the American people the very next day.

And if the Southern Poverty Law Center or the ACLU has its way, the “victims” of the excessive force in L.A. will have won the equivalent of the lottery.

Is this a great country, or what?
